District Disaster Management Authority Reviews Flood Mitigation and PDNA-2022 Progress
The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Morigaon convened a review meeting to assess key disaster mitigation and post-disaster recovery initiatives being implemented across the district. The meeting was chaired by District Commissioner Smt. Anamika Tewari in the presence of District Development Commissioner Smt. Orpah Baglari, Additional District Commissioner Smt. Anusuya Sharma, and representatives from all concerned departments.During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted of the Flood Mitigation by Capacity Augmentation of Morisutitup Beel scheme being implemented by the Water Resources Department under the National Disaster Mitigation Fund. The project aims to enhance the water-holding capacity of Morisutitup Beel and reduce flood vulnerability in Morigaon district.The Authority also carried out a comprehensive department-wise review of ongoing works under the Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) 2022. Progress made by the Water Resources, Education, Social Welfare, PWD (Roads), and Health departments was examined, with officials presenting updates on implementation status, fund utilization, and challenges encountered during project execution.The District Commissioner directed all departments to expedite pending works and ensure timely completion of flood mitigation measures ahead of the monsoon season. She emphasized the need for strong inter-departmental coordination to strengthen disaster preparedness and reiterated the importance of sustainable recovery across disaster-affected sectors.
